This is a great atmosphere for families. The creek runs right alongside the campground so you can tube there or go up into the park which is only about a mile up the road. There is also a playground there for the kiddos to play on. All around great experience and would recommend to anyone looking for a great camping experience.
We visited this campground with a large group for the eclipse in 2017. We had 3 tent sites and 1 cabin. The campground has multiple playgrounds, tubing, and even goats to feed and pet. The cabin was nice and well equipped, although the sleeping loft tended to get a bit warm. The bath house was great, with individual full bathrooms. The bathrooms were kept well cleaned. Camp roads are gravel, so water shoes are a must for tubing. What really impressed me was that they didn't increase their rates at all for the eclipse.
I would definitely recommend this campground, especially for families with kids.
Stayed one night in a cabin. The cabin was nice and clean. The campground overall seemed nice and a great place for kids. The reason I am giving 3 stars only is as follows: we were desperate to find a place to stay one more night to see the eclipse the next day. I was told a cabin was available for one night by one lady and then when I went to book it, another lady said it would be a 2-night minimum. There was no 2-night minimum the night before in the cabin we stayed in. She was simply taking advantage of our desperation which is inexcusable. Luckily we found a wonderful campsite close by for a very reasonable price and only needed to pay for one night.
My only complaint is that the tent sites are right by the river tube pullout point (the path goes right between tent sites), so from 11-6:30, we had a pretty regular stream of people walking by our picnic table. Tubing traffic might be less on non-eclipse weekends.
The entire Deep Creek area is a nice place to visit any time of the year. You can go tubing, horseback riding, camping, or take a stroll on one of the many nature trails. The camping areas are well maintained but some sites are as bit crowded. You'll also find the Rangers are friendly and helpful if you visit the Ranger Station, and I also recommend a visit to the National Park Service located just a short distance away. Along the Deep Creek Horse Trail you'll find "Juney Whank Falls", a beautiful spot offering wonderful photo opportunities. The Noland Divide trail is a lengthy hike that takes you to the "Lonesome Pine Overlook", which you really don't want to miss. The trail access is near the Deep Creek Picnic Shelter. Also visit " Tom Branch Falls", a short walk away from Deep Creek Trail. No matter what time of the year you visit, if you love the outdoors and natural beauty you'll love the Deep Creek Area.
Our family absolutely loves Deep Creek Tubing Center and Campground. The staff here is always friendly and helpful. Their reservations could use an upgrade including an online reservation portal. Right now it is all pen and paper and can sometimes be misplaced. This came very close to happening to us but the staff were very patient and kept looking until they found it. Not sure what would have happened if they couldn't find it and thankfully we didn't have to find out. Every system has flaws though.
Our camp site was beautiful right next to the creek when we were supposed to get rain they offered to move us to a safer location at no extra charge. Which was an upgrade. The gem mine was wonderful lots of different gems to find. Pet friendly, with lots of people like ourselves running from hurricane Irma.
