We came here after our polar express train ride with a group of 15. As rambunctious as our children were the staff here were great about keeping our kids hands busy with color sheets and crayons. Our waitress recommended we order something small to get the kids started before she came back with our drinks which was really great. She didn’t take long to return with drinks and food! The place was packed and the staff were all very accommodating to our large group. Nice atmosphere, good pizza, fresh salads! We would return.
We stopped in here before the Polar Express. We’ve never done a review on a restaurant, but felt the need this time... to save another family the trouble. Safe to say one of the worst experiences we’ve had. The table we were sat at was dirty, the staff was less than friendly, the food... well, we didn’t even finish it. Ordered pizza (kids wouldn’t eat it, no sauce, cheese looked fake, strange smell to it), fried pickles (our daughter who loves them spit it out), the kids spaghetti was decent but the meatball was NOT! My spinach salad with grilled chicken got sent back- found a hair in my salad (chicken was dry and balsamic dressing was no good). My husband tried the jalapeño popper... nope! We least the majority of what we ordered on the table when we left. And then went to another restaurant down the street and had a much better experience. The server there guessed correctly which restaurant we came from, not the first time she had heard complaints sense new management. Sad because it’s in a great location and atmosphere is nice, but service and food is seriously lacking.
Went to Anthony’s at 2:30 in the afternoon. We were seated by a hostess with an attitude. No tables were clean, and the restaurant was not full. We waited more than 10 minutes and no one came to take our drink order or acknowledge our presence. We went down the road to Nick and Nate’s and had great Pizza, great beer, and great service!
The next restaurant we went to we talked with the server about our experience at Anthony’s we had just had and he advised us that was not the first time he had heard someone come in and complain about Anthony’s. He advised us that ever since the previous owner sold the restaurant there have been so many complaints and unhappy customers. Their customer service has gone way downhill and it was unfortunate because the previous owner was so nice and would sit at the table with you and so involved with the customers.
We were there on a Saturday! We tried to go for lunch and was told they were on a wait for outside seating. There were dirty tables that just sat there and we had to leave before eating due to boarding the train. So we decided to go back for dinner! Bad mistake! We were told a 10 minute wait and we waited for 25 minutes then the service was slow and we had to ask for everything for our daughter - a high chair and kids menu after we told the hostess. After an hour and a half my food came out and they apologized that my husbands wasn’t done yet. My daughter and I ate and still nothing for my husband! After 2 hours my husband finally got his food and we had to get it to go because our 16 month old had exceeded her patience. I spoke with the server and she said the kitchen had gotten backed up. We never saw a manager and we received a piece of cheesecake for the inconvenience. We were in Bryson City to ride the train for the first time for my husbands birthday!! So we hated to end the day this way!! I had the ziti which was really good and the cheesecake was also good. My husband said his chicken scampi was very bland. So proceed to this restaurant with caution and a lot of patience!
Do not waste your time or money going to this place. The sad thing is, it smelled so yummy in the restaurant so we were looking forward to the food but couldn’t get past the hostess stand.
Worst service I have ever had and I was only in the restaurant for 10 minutes. We arrived around 5:30 before the dinner crowd came in. There were empty tables all over the place however the hostess told us that the wait would be “a very long time.” Well we are visiting the area and we didn’t know any places to go so we decided to wait. Well one of the people in our party saw a table that was big enough for our party however it had dirty dishes on it. We asked the hostess if we could sit at this table. The hostess advised she had to get someone to clean it because she doesn’t do that and the she had to take care of other people and get someone else’s drinks. We asked another worker if someone could clean the table and he advised that the hostess is the one that cleans the tables. Well at this point we were starting to believe we were not wanted at this place. Few minutes went by and we observed a worker cleaning the table off that was in question. The hostess went over to this worker and had a chat with him. The hostess came back to talk with us and she said that the server that is in charge of that section advised she could only wait on one table at a time. Well we decided at that point to leave.
